Devonport St Paul's

The seaside village of Devonport, Auckland, is now home to New Zealand's first ever National Chess Centre, with plans underway to host several tournaments annually. The landmark St Paul's Church and adjacent halls were purchased in late 2013 by chess Grandmaster Murray Chandler.

January 13th-15th 2016 – NZCF hosts a junior chess training course featuring Australian Grandmaster Ian Rogers.

January 13th 2016 – Beauty v Beast Simul (Aotea Square). England’s Nigel Short playing 20 female opponents gets chess on all the main TV channels.

January 3rd 2016 – AGM of NEW ZEALAND CHESS FEDERATION

January 2nd-12th 2016 – 123rd NEW ZEALAND CHESS CONGRESS. Open event, won by GM Gawain Jones from England. Also Major Open, Junior Open, Rapid and Blitz events.

September 19th-20th 2015 - NORTH SHORE OPEN

April 16th-19th 2015 - OCEANIA SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIP

January 12th-15th 2015 - NZCF JUNIOR TRAINING COURSE, with Bulgarian International Grandmaster Dejan Bojkov

January 9th 2015 - AGM of OCEANIA CHESS CONFEDERATION

January 3rd 2015 - AGM of NEW ZEALAND CHESS FEDERATION

January 1st-11th 2015 - 122nd NEW ZEALAND CHESS CONGRESS. Open event with many international players, and won for the first time ever by a woman (Zhao Xue, China)

September 27th - October 5th 2014 - GEORGE TRUNDLE MASTERS, giving opportunities to up-and-coming players to play experienced masters from NZ and Australia

September 6th-7th 2014 - NORTH SHORE OPEN, hosted by North Shore Chess Club

May 24th 2014 - RAPIDPLAY raising funds to support New Zealand's Chess Olympiad Teams

March 2nd 2014 - OPENING SIMUL with English Grandmaster Nigel Short
